IEP or 504: choose the tool after the team’s decision
Articles are currently available in English.
Start with the approved process
A generator should not decide whether a learner needs an IEP or a 504 plan. Start with the school’s evaluation and eligibility process, then use the appropriate drafting workflow.
Organize what is known
For an IEP draft, prepare current performance, goals, measurement information, and the supports the team is considering. For a 504 draft, describe the documented access needs and proposed accommodations. Keep all examples de-identified.
Use official references
Read the IDEA IEP definition and the Department of Education’s Section 504 resources. Section 504 prohibits disability discrimination in covered programs. Your school team determines the applicable process and final plan.
